Biography

Anna Birch (b. 1989, Moscow) is a Russian artist. In 2012 she graduated from the economics faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and received professional art training at the Moscow School of Contemporary Art (MSCI), MMOMA's Free Workshops, and the BAZA Institute (2024). Her media background shaped her commitment to logocentrism and analysis of news feeds. Birch delves into the themes of time, society, memory and self-identification in her art. Through irony and grotesque she reveals the contradictions of contemporary Russian reality, working with painting, ceramics, embroidery, installation, stock images, AI, and photo-collage. In 2025, her solo exhibition ‘White as Soot’ took place in the Ruarts Foundation.
