Biography
Vasily Kudryavtsev was born in 1972 in Priozersk (Karaganda region, Kazakhstan) in a military family. A few months after his birth, family moved to Moscow. He graduated three courses of the Moscow Aviation Institute. Since 1991 he is a professional photographer. Vasily has been working with Russian celebrities since the early 90s and is a trendsetter of a magazine photography of that time. Kudryavtsev's portfolio is a kaleidoscope of frank observations of human contradictions. His pictures have been published in Rolling Stone, OM, Premier, GQ, L’Officiel, Elle, Vogue, Grazia, “Bolshoy Good”, Cool and “Music Life”. Vasily specializes in photography of music celebrities and contemporary culture - he made photos of the iconic Prodigy and Nirvana, Metallica and Public Enemy, Kiss and Depeche Mode. At different times Kudryavtsev’s lens caught Marilyn Manson, Bjork, James Cameron, Moby, David Bowie, Meryl Streep, t.A.T.u, Detsl, Vincent Cassel, Daniel Craig, Fanny Ardant, Lady Gaga, Dolphin, Denis Simachev, Tina Kandelaki, Sergey Mazayev and many others. In 2018, he has been a special photographer for the Artmossphere Biennale of Street Art and as a personal photographer for the legendary Shepard Fairey, better known around the world as Obey.
