October 11-16, 2011 Ruarts Gallery supported by the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is proud to present an exhibition of young Dutch designers within a framework of the 2nd annual Moscow Design Week, where Maarten Baas (www.maartenbaas.com) world famous for his pioneer collection Smoke - burned furniture and interior items - will appear as a headliner.
The main idea of the Dutch Project is the demonstration of the most interesting objects made by Dutch designers, famous Eindhoven Design Academy graduates: Kiki van Eijk (www.kikiworld.nl), Joost van Bleiswijk (www.joostvanbleiswijk.com), Tjeerd Veenhonen (www.tjeerdveenhoven.com), Floris Schoonderbeek (www.florisschoonderbeek.com), Weiki Somers (www.wiekisomers.com) and Pieke Bergmans (www.piekebergmans.com).Maarten Baas himself is the project curator, who has personally selected the very best for the show.
The press preview on the occasion of this exhibition will take place at RuArts Gallery. Our guests will be the members of RuArts, Moscow Design Week and of course Maarten Baas with his colleagues.
Moscow Design Week is a significant event for Moscow public and for a designer community, which gathers the most famous designers from the whole world. Last year Moscow Design Week had more than 100 000 visitors and occupied 40 main exhibition areas of Moscow. There were many professionals among the guests such as designers, architects, buyers, students, as well as Moscow socialites. The goal of this event is to create the platform, economic and professional climate for a design development in Russia, popularization of Western designers with the participation of Russian creators.
