Biography
Vladimir Glynin was born in 1975 in Moscow. From 1985 to 1993, the artist studied at the Moscow Academic Choreographic School, Moscow. In 1993, he began working at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia as a ballet dancer. In 1996, Glynin performed the first photographs dedicated to the backstage life of the Bolshoi Theatre. Since 1998, he has been cooperating with Vogue Russia as a photographer. In 2001, the artist finished his career at the Bolshoi Theatre. Glynin worked for L’Officiel Russia, GQ Russia, Harper’s Bazaar Russia and other leading glossy magazines. From 1998 to 2008, he created advertising campaigns and promotional projects for automobile, jewelry and fashion brands, theater posters and art calendars. In 2008, the first solo art project Swan Lake saw the light in the Art Angar area on the territory of the former Arma factory. From that moment, Vladimir Glynin gradually moved away from the gloss and took up art. Since the 2010s, the author has been often using the “analog” multi-exposure technique in his abstract compositions, the result of which viewers often mistake for special digital effects. Vladimir Glynin gives lectures on the art of photography in the British Higher School of Art and Design, at the Phillips Education contemporary art courses, in the Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography and in the other organizations. Member of the Russian Union of Artists.
